Benaki Museum of Toys, centered around the collection of Maria Argyriadi—ranked among the ten finest toy collections in Europe—presents toys, books, printed material, clothing, and objects related to childhood from all over the world.
The Benaki Museum of Toys is housed in an eclectic building dating from 1897–1900. The building was donated by Vera Kouloura, in accordance with the wish of her husband, Athanasios Koulouras, a benefactor from Hydra and ship captain.
There, in the lush green garden, the Museum Café and refreshment area, Diipnosofistirion, is in operation. Visitors can enjoy their coffee or soft drink, handmade bars and snacks, homemade lemonade, and, of course, ice cream!
